I have the perfect dessert for you to ring in the new year with. Best of all, it includes a decent amount of booze! Cue cheers from the rooftops!
I made this decadent dessert a couple weeks ago when we had friends over to celebrate our new home. This cake is perfect for celebrating, especially a brand new year ahead.
Cheers to you this New Years! Have fun ringing in 2014!
Strawberry Champagne Cake (Recipe inspired from here)
1 package 2-layer-size white cake mix
1/3 C. vegetable oil
3 egg whites
champagne or sparkling wine
16 oz can vanilla frosting
Few drops of red food coloring
Fresh strawberries (sliced or whole)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 8×1-1/2 inch round cake pans. Set pans aside.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions, except replace the water with an equal amount of champagne. Pour batter into prepared pans, spreading evenly. Bake according to package directions. Cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on racks.
Tint frosting with food coloring to make a light pink. I used 4-5 drops to get a very light pink. Place one cake layer, bottom side up, on a serving dish. Spread with about 1/2 cup of the tinted frosting. Place remaining cake layer, round side up, on top. Frost top and side of cake with remaining frosting. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
Your Welcome!
