I had the most amazing homemade bread this past week while we were in California. Jenese has a great family recipe for Cherry Nut Bread. This bread is so yummy!! Perfect for breakfast, or even a yummy snack though out the day.
Try not to eat it all at once (wink wink).
Filled with fresh cut cherries and yummy walnuts – this bread is the perfect sweet treat!
Cherry Nut Bread
2 C. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 C. shortening
3/4 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 C. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C. chopped walnuts
1/2 C. chopped cherries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together ingredients in large bowl. Grease bread pan and pour batter into pan. Bake for 1 hour, until cooked all the way through.
*Tim’s dad was so excited to eat the bread that he grew a little impatient. Make sure you cook it the whole time and let it cool for a bit before biting in. Even a little crumbly – it’s still DELISH!
