BBQ Burgers

I made you something.

It’s pretty fantastic and in the form of a burger.

More specifically a BBQ Burger.

*The husband was pretty stoked with this meal – saying we ate like kings and queens tonight. If we would have gone to a restaurant I’m sure we would have dropped $25-30 bucks. I think making this dinner at home, we spent closer to $7-8. Not too shabby.

Back to this burger.

It’s pretty kick-a**. A thick, juicy burger grilled with BBQ sauce, topped with caramelized onion and a slice of cheddar cheese. I’m in heaven.

Your welcome.

BBQ Burgers

  • Burger patties

  • Steak seasoning

  • Favorite BBQ sauce

  • Whole grain english muffins (for buns)

  • Cheddar cheese (enough slices to have 1 slice per burger)

  • 1 small yellow onion

  • 1-2 Tbsp olive oil

  • S&P

Start by caramelizing the onion. Slice onion in half, and then again into thin slices. Heat 1-2 Tbsp olive oil in small skillet. Once the oil is hot, add onion and season with salt and pepper. Cook covered, on medium for 10-20 minutes until onions become a beautiful caramelized color. Make sure you continue to stir.

Season burger patties with steak seasoning. Grill on medium heat for 5 minutes on each side. When you flip patty the first time, coat cooked side of burger with BBQ sauce.

With a couple of minutes left for your burgers on the grill, go ahead and add your english muffins to get them extra toasted.

Once you’ve cooked burgers on the other side for 5 minutes, they should be done. Slather on some more BBQ. Next, top burgers with a layer of caramelized onion. Finish with a slice of cheddar cheese. Cover and grill for an additional minute until the cheese is nice and melted. Serve burgers on toasted english muffins.
