Week 8: My Half-Marathon Training

Hey everyone! Welcome back from your weekend. The weather has finally turned around and today we enjoyed BEAUTIFUL 60 degree weather. It was absolutely amazing.

I’m still trekking along with my marathon training. Tonight I ran 7 miles – the furthest I’ve ever run before. I keep surprising myself each week with what I can accomplish. If I can do this, anyone can!

I signed up for the 6k HyVee Road Race this upcoming Sunday for the Drake Relays. This is my first race and I think it’s great practice for my half coming up in June. If you live near Des Moines and are looking for a fun race to participate in, check out the Hy-Vee races – they have a 6k, 10k and Half-Marathon. Best of all – you finish the race around the blue oval in the Drake Stadium with an outdoor concert by Eric Hutchinson.

This upcoming week is going to be busy with work and grad school. I’m hoping I can keep up with my workout schedule. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!
